Chocolate wedding cakes are unusual, but they make your guests really happy. These chocolate wedding cake ideas include some that are totally chocolate, plus some that have chocolate details. I made all of these for different clients, and I hope that they give you a little wedding cake inspiration for your own celebration.

Chocolate cake on the inside.

A chocolate wedding cake doesn’t have to be chocolate on the outside. A chocolate cake on the inside won’t show through the icing, and you can have chocolate cake with different fillings on each tier if you want to.

This delicious little cake has chocolate truffle icing and chocolate ganache dripped on the tiers. I covered the strawberries in more ganache to add to the look. This isn’t a typical wedding cake, but it’s the kind of wedding cake that makes guests very excited for eating it. They won’t be skipping this one.
Chocolate brown and blue.

This is a popular color combination, and this wedding cake used both colors in a way that isn’t typical of wedding cakes. The blue buttercream had chocolate piping, and there were chocolate clay bands at the bottom of each tier.
Blue and brown with gumpaste flowers.

I made this design several times with different flower combinations because it was such a pretty cake. The icing was a light blue buttercream, and the chocolate clay bands at the base of tiers also had a thin white line of icing piped around the top of each band. The gumpaste flowers and leaves added some color to the cake, and the square tiers made it modern.
